Jarrahdale Rocks???

What the F@*K is the deal with those two HUGE boulders at the end of the Jarrahdale course???
Whoever put them there are, I'm sorry, FITH.
Would anyone have any clues as to who would be behind it, maybe CALM / Forrestrys?
We had a good run of the 12hr course today and finding those obstructions on the final straight was a real dissapointment - and piss off.
I love that last little bit of the course and it'd suck if we are going to have to race with them there.
Anyone else agree?

I'm all for taking the right avenues about these things but.... anyone got a 4wd / bobcat.

Holly Sudden stops Batman!

Flying through the pines, and HELLLOOOOO>

I now know that both my front and back brakes work.

Very well.

And that it is possiable to soil your lycra.

Those rocks are like what, 1 m x .5 x .8. They were not moved with a wheelbarrow.

There is no obvious way through, untill you see the gap - hell I've seen cracks in the pavement bigger than that!

The gap between them is, at a nudge, pedals in the right position, lean left, enough for one bike - or a fag paper . . . .

I back tracked to see where the track went - as there was no way this could be part of it - but it seems this is it . . . (unless I missed something?)

Sure, the pines are single track - but I had to unclip and one foot on the rock thing - no clearence what so ever.......

Some one is going to forget about them and kill themselves at 3am..There were serious tracks by the rocks, who ever put them there came prepared.

FILTH, doesn't come close.
Manslaughter charges are more like it.
On a day lap you get some warning, at night . . . . . .

Either the rocks have to be moved - or that last piece of track rerouted.

The log to the left (as your comming through)of them could be built up to a log over - or moved . . . . . and some spade work done. But its still a bit tight for the end of enduro lap - where the sprinters will be going hell for leather. . .

they were prepared

Did a couple of laps of 12 hr on Sat am (great track excpet for the tree that bit me) and like others came all locked up at the end. I would guess the rocks were put in by CALM or the like as it was done using a loader as there were heaps of fresh tracks where they put them. IF it was them aomeone should talk to them direct, they have been put there for a reason and we all have to live happily together or we lose in the long run. My other guess is that there were complaints from park users about flat out MTBers coming down there and scaring the kiddies and mummies. Fair enough to try and make it safe but the loader driver was probably told to do it by someone who does not understand. Sounds like a job for the 12 hr commitee.
Mike.
PS Is 24 hours long enough to wait after getting the snip to do a 12 hour race??? Might have to wait til next year.

A bit more thought

Could have gone into placing those rocks. I was out there today for a few laps. I am of the opinion that they were placed to prevent us coming flying out on to the road at a million miles an hour and possibly in to a car....good old public liability and all.....
That said what a ridiculously stupid way to go about it.

With a bit of thought and consultation I have no doubt a better solution could have been contrived.

FWIW, on completing my 3rd lap somebody had the sense and means to drag the rocks apart....thank you.

I'm afraid that when I

I'm afraid that when I re-marked the course on Friday night I didn't see the rocks. I figured the pines were the one part of the track I didn't have to look at. I will be down there tomorrow night and will have a look at them.

Are they the same rocks that have always been there and have just been moved or have they added extra rocks? If someone could tell me today I will have a chat with the right people at DEC. I also noticed the toilets don't flush so I will find out about that as well.

Thanks
John

I think they are extra rocks

I think they are extra rocks they have added but I stand to be corrected. Never realy took much notice until now.

Don't know sorry.

Don't know sorry.

I did a lap today. 12kms

I did a lap today. 12kms exactly according to my computer. Copped a bunch of spider webs right in the face though. Creeps me out everytime!

Did anyone move the rocks yesterday? Because there was plenty of room to ride between them.

Course was excellent. Great job John.
