As you will notice, alot of work has gone into the 2010 XC calendar, which can be sumarized as below;
The committee discussed each race on its own merit, the order of the events, dates, clashing events and which tracks to use. We have tried to shorten the season and space the races more evenly, every 2 to 3 weeks.
There are 7 rounds of a cross country (XC) race series, based on how most XC races are normally run or have been run in the past. (UCI Olympic format) These races will be run by PMBC.
Points for the "7 round XC race series series" will be as per MTBA guidelines (same as we have been using) and dropping 1 round of points as per the PMBC constitution.
These 7 rounds are not called State Rounds or Club Rounds, kind of a blend of both.
Entry cost for the series is $20 per round (a cross between Club and State races)
Any one who "enters" all 7 rounds gets a free entry to the State Champs which will be at Murray Valley (all going well)
We also feel that the by not calling the "XC Series" a "State Series", it will give more credit to the "State Championships" as a stand alone event.
If a sponsor were to come forward interested in supporting the "7 round XC Series" we would look at putting thier name in front of the "XC Series". For example Michael Brooks from Bootleg Brewery gave us alot of support last season. If this structure had of been set up last season we would have called it the "Bootleg Brewery XC Series". In saying that, individual races can still be supported by any one interested in doing so.
There will be a $10 late fee for entering on the day (no exceptions as its more work for volunteers)
We will not be giving people who enter online an option of paying on the day. (its more work for volunteers) you need to pay online.
There is also an "Enduro XC race series" of 3 rounds, based on 2, 4 hour races and a 6 hour race all run by John Carney. Further information will be available soon or by contacting Wembley Cycles.
We will only be printing 200 number plates (1-200 no class specific plates) and the first one will be free to the riders, but there will be a $5 charge for a second plate if lost or forget etc.
To speed up the process of the day we will starting the second wave 50min to 1 hour after the first wave, depending on lap times of the track we are at. EG; 9am for U13, 9.30 first wave, 10.20 to 10.30 for the second wave.
2 brand new venues are on the calendar, Pemberton has a brilliant new MTB park that Paul Neve has built. We will be belting out some laps on the ANZAC day long week end. Collie has some brand new trails that further information will be available on as the year progresses, one of the Enduro rounds will (hopefully) be held in Collie.
When looking at the calendar the "Yellow" is the XC series, "Orange" the Enduro Rounds and the "Blue" background is for all other Club events.
Look Forward to seeing you during the year.
