Race fees?

I seem to remember the club offering a couple of free races for non members last year (except for the day licence). Are you guys going to offer this in 2007 too?

Probably Not

Thats the simple answer. The idea is good but in practice we had a lot of people taking advantage of it by claiming that they had never raced before. We will review it properly again before the first race at the end of March.

Benefits of membership?

I vaguely remember reading something about getting insurance for injuring people, damaging property and stuff like that as a benefit of club membership. Is that correct? Apart from being cheaper to race, is there anything else prospective members should know about upon joining?

I already know about the warm and fuzzy feelings, and the great look of "PMBC" emblazoned across one's arse.

The insurance component of

The insurance component of the membership is very valuable even if you don't race. It does cover third party injury and some time off work for yourself. All the details of the insurance are best read on the MTBA website. www.mtba.asn.au

Also there is different levels of membership. If you never intend to race but you do a lot of riding then the social membership for $60 still covers insurance while riding and has a club component that allows us to put funds towards various projects.

Part of the money that goes to MTBA to cover insurance is also used to cover their trails advocacy. We intend to have MTBA much more involved in the trails advocacy over here in WA.
