I have a set of fox f80rlt and i have blown a seal. there is also some play in them and i have been told that the bushings can be replaced.
I called a couple of shops (decent shops with good reputations) and i have been advised basically the same thing...shops can't do the work, they just send it off to sydney, no idea about cost until it comes back.
I'm cool that the shops can't do the job because its probably more trouble that its worth, but how do the rest of you get your forks serviced? Do you just take them in to a shop, have them sent off and then just wear what ever cost the fox wholesaler decides to charge you? is there an authorised repairer in perth?
cheers?

I was charged $150 for the Fox service over east crafty, which is the standard I believe. Oddly, my local quotes $75 for a rebuild, which they'll do here.
Set up a shop from home?
Maybe someone with some spare time could set up a service center over here. There seems to be a neich for a Fox and Rock shox fork mechanic in WA.

Dirt Works
Dirt Works over in Sydney do the best servicing around. They don't distribute the forks anymore but they
still have all their tech blokes. I believe they will be doing custom tuning soon as well. You'll be without yer fork
for about a week or so, but its worth it.
Get your local shop to send it away for you and they'll sort the whole thing out.

fork rebuilding
Have a go yourself, as I have learnt myself. I now rebuild Rock shox Team and Race models and just learnt how to do White Brothers Magic 29er forks. You will have a better understanding of your forks.

Do it yourself
About 2 months ago MeridaGreg and I did our first ever service of our Fox forks and it wasn't that hard. You just need some time and patience and be prepared for oily mess. It took about 3 hours to do the first fork, mainly because we hadn't done it before. The second fork was done in less than two hours.
You can get good seals from Enduro.

Enduro also supply other related items to service your fork including bushings

The 7wt fork fluid can be purchased from a motorbike shop.
Instructions can be downloaded from Fox

Or from Enduro

The postage on the Enduro stuff is quite high, but if you can get someone else to split an order it works out quite cheap.
