WORLD CUP was a BLAST!!

Last week's UCI World Cup in Canberra was an absolute blast!!!
In my opinion, the whole event was well run and the racing was insane!!
The event centre and Expo was good, the organisation by CORC was very good and the racing in all the events was the best I have ever seen.
Canberra put on the whole range of weather so that competitors could see what it will be like at next year's UCI World Championships. It was sunny & mild at times, freezing and windy at times and even a bit damp too. The famous Stromlo clay dust turned into "chewing gum" mud on the Sunday so there was a bit of something for everyone.
I don't know much about DH, but I do have a healthy respect for those who want to throw themselves down such a gnarly hill at that speed. The track was hard enough but a little bit of rain made it more interesting too. And man, can those spectators make some noise?? Yeah!!
The trials was pretty amazing too, but at a much different pace.
The 4X was hot, especially the night finals under lights. I didn't see much but I sure did yell and cheer a lot for the all Aussie winners!
The XC racing was outta this world. The course was technically HARD (some amazingly huge rock drops and chutes) but a lot of fun to ride for those of us that raced the support races. Seeing the elites, including the rainbow jerseys fly over that course was memorable.
But for my money, the short course XC (dirt crits) in the muddy paddock on the Sunday was the highlight. Seeing the push and shove of elites on redline for 25 minutes was very entertaining!
It was good to see a few West Aussies there too (boys from HiWays, PMBC El' Presidente John C etc).
All the competitors I spoke to really enjoyed the racing and venue too.
The World's are on next year 1-6th Sept.
I have made my bookings already, how about you?
