PMBC to pay for Nationals Entries

To help promote the sport at the higher levels PMBC will contribute $50 to the entry fee of all elite Women and Junior athletes from PMBC who compete at the National Championships in Canberra in January 2009.

This is a great opportunity for those younger riders who are thinking of competing to give it a go. There are no strings attached other than that you are in those categories and are a member of the club.

Just to clarify. This is

Just to clarify. This is for ALL Juniors and Elite Women. It does not cover senior men. It is aimed at encouraging the future of the sport. It may seem a bit harsh but if we paid for all the senior men as well we would go broke!

When does the part about

When does the part about subsidized travel costs come in aswell?

As much as it sounds good, $50 really doesn't go that far compared the travel/accommodation costs.

Either way, good on the club, I would love to try get over there for the nationals, then later in the year for the worlds (to spectate though)!

More than happy to help

More than happy to help organise fundraisers for juniors for air fares.

As for going to the Worlds I can 100% recommend going over for it. the atmostphere is great and the parties will be just as good. Plenty of Perth guys went across last week.

There was also support races on the Friday this year for normal people. I'm not sure if they will do that next year but it was cool to race the xc world cup course and see that it was way harder than our courses.

Local Government Sponsorship

Local government's often have small grants to assist with travel to national sporting events, especially for juniors. Its worth having a look to see if your local council has anything on offer to add to the $50 from PMBC :)

Its well worth the trip so start saving those pennies!!

My local council hooked me

My local council hooked me up with nearly $400 last time I went to race over east.

Was pretty surprising, but it was really easy, just wrote a letter, went to a presentation, shook some blokes hand, and that was that.

Really?

What??!?
What was the justification? IE, what was the basis of your letter?
