As for pace, we average about 15 to 20km/h for about 2-2.5 hours (including stops for crashes and mechanicals). I trust you have a decent set of lights? Bring any spares you think you 'll need and a big appetite.
You'll really need a good quality light set for this ride otherwise you'll struggle, plus it's a safety issue. An absolute minimum is a 10W halogen headlight plus a bar light, however the new HIDs or LEDs are preferred. Some experience riding at night is needed too, there are plenty of surprises for the unwary.
We have had to turn people away for not having proper lighting, it's a long way to come to not be able to ride. There are many options for buying a light set, best thing is to have a chat to your local bike shop. TBE at Nedlands had a good deal recently, and I saw this ad on the Tri WA site:
