Perth Mountain Bike Club

Yeah that’s right we are going to be mixing it up a bit this year and for round three, down in Dwelli, we will be running a two stage event. This means we will be racing two separate tracks (both start and finish in the same area) for the one event on the Murray Valley side of the river. Each rider will still get two timed race-runs, but one on each track. Then the results of each category will be added together to determine the winner of each division for PMBC Club Round 3.

The first race-run will be sent down the speed-track which is a little bit pedally, but always challenging to hold your speed through the different sections. It starts of with some single track that opens up onto a fast sprint down a fire round into a tight section of the woods. You then rail into a berm leading onto a long section of fire-roads, littered with bus-stops that all sling you into a rough 90 degree, open corner. Now you have another long section of tight single track dodging some rather large pines. Finishing with another section of fire-road that dives straight into the last section of single track comprising a ew ski jumps into the finish line.

The second race-run will be sent down the infamous log-step-down track that is also a fast and following track. This one starts at the same point, but quickly veers off to the right into some single track that zigzags toward a fire-road crossing including a few jumps along the way. Then ya scoot into a berm that sends you down toward a long fire-road. Once on the road your adrenaline starts to pump 10 fold, cause you gotta get fired-up to launch off the 25 foot log-step-down. When you finally touch-down again you are skidding straight into a large berm that sends you toward a little gap before getting fired up for the second large step-down. Now you zigzag through more single track, down over a large rock float over two wooden bridges to enter the finish line on the same bottom section of the track.

*Online rego for this event is up and working, and I strongly urge everyone to take advantage of this service, as it makes life way easier for everyone on the day. You can access online rego from the toolbar link "RACE ENTRY - FORMS AND ONLINE". If you don't have a Credit Card, you can choose pay on the day option, but you still have to fill in the rego online. We will have late rego on the day, HOWEVER IT WILL INCUR AN ADDITIONAL FEE OF $15. Anyone who registers online, can you also print out the online receipt and bring it with you. AS ALWAYS YOU WILL NEED TO BRING YOUR CURRENT MTBA CARD OR RECEIPT AS PROOF OF MEMBERSHIP, OTHERWISE YOU WILL HAVE TO BUY A DAY LICENCE FOR $15.

Getting there:
From Perth head out Albany Hwy to South Western Hwy—head south; or Tonkin Hwy to Thomas Rd then to South Western Hwy—head south; or Kwinana Freeway South turn left at Mundijong Rd (which becomes Watkins Rd) and follow all the way down over railway tracks to South Western Hwy—head south. Once you’re on the South Western Hwy follow it down to North Dandalup turn left at “Floopers” Petrol station on to Del Park Rd. Follow this all the way to Dwellingup continue up to the T junction with Pinjarra Williams Road, turn left and follow it to right turn onto Nanga Road. Once there please follow the signs to the parking area.

Dwellingup is one of the states best locations for Mtb racing utilising some of the lushest pine forests in WA, providing that super tacky soil we all love. The Murray Valley, log-step-down is awesome spectating and really displays the extreme, hardcore nature of our adrenaline filled sport—Hope to see everyone there!
